Fruit for Life: Super Berries
Berries are often described as “super foods,” with research showing that in their raw form they are among the fruits highest in antioxidant content and that they are excellent sources of several phytochemicals.
The power of antioxidants are currently a highly debated topic with many believing they have unique health benefits. USDA’s ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Scale), which is designed to measure the antioxidant level in foods, rated Chinese Goji Berries number one. The berries registered 23,000 per 100g compared to prunes which came in second scoring 5,770 per 100g. (Source Asiafruit Magazine Nov/Dec 2007)
